Two bike-borne men snatched a gold chain from a woman near Gharuan when she was travelling towards Khanpur on Saturday, police said.
Police said the victim, Kiranjot Kaur of Patiala, was riding pillion on a scooty when the suspects swiftly pulled up beside them, snatched her chain and fled. A case under Section 304 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nayaya Sanhita was registered, they added. CCTV footage from the stretch is being scanned to identify the accused.
Three held in snatching, theft cases
Mohali Phase 1 police on Saturday arrested three men involved in multiple cases of snatching and theft, after intercepting them at a naka.
The arrested have been identified as Satnam Kumar and Aras Ali, both residents of Desumajra, and Karan of Sunny Enclave.
Police recovered 16 stolen mobile phones, a motorcycle without a number plate, a scooter, and another motorcycle bearing UP from them. Police said further investigation is underway.
