Over 4,000 aspirants appear for UPSC prelims at 14 Ludhiana centres

Out of 4,353 registered candidates, 1,300 male and 1,453 female candidates appeared in the first shift, while the second session saw the participation of 1,287 male and 1,442 female candidates

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Preliminary Examination was conducted at 14 centres across Ludhiana district on Sunday, with 2,753 candidates appearing in the morning session and 2,729 candidates taking the afternoon session examination.

Out of 4,353 registered candidates, 1,300 male and 1,453 female candidates appeared in the first shift, while the second session saw the participation of 1,287 male and 1,442 female candidates.

The examination was held in two shifts from 9.30 am to 11.30 am and from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm.

Deputy commissioner Himanshu Jain visited various examination centres to review arrangements. Officials said the administration had made arrangements for security, transportation, seating, drinking water, uninterrupted power supply and medical assistance to ensure smooth conduct of the examination.

Adequate police deployment, including male and female personnel, was ensured at all centres. Frisking of candidates was also conducted to maintain security and transparency during the examination.

The examination centres were set up at various schools and colleges across the city, including institutions in Model Town, Dugri, Civil Lines, Bharat Nagar and Chandigarh Road areas.
