A speeding motorcycle ran over a pedestrian near Vishal Mega Mart in Kalka on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Mehrooj Jama, 49, a native of Bihar, who was living in Ganga colony, Kalka.
The case has been registered on the statement of an eyewitness, identified as Balram, 36, of Kalka. As per Balram, he was standing near Vishal Mega Mart around 8.30pm when he saw a speeding motorcycle, bearing a Haryana registration number, hit a pedestrian. He said the pedestrian received injuries on legs and head, and started bleeding profusely. He was rushed to Sector-6 civil hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The motorcyclist also fell after the collision but he managed to flee the spot with the two-wheeler, however, Balram managed to note down the registration number.
A case under Sections (causing death by negligence) and 279 (rash driving) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at the Kalka police station. The biker is yet to be arrested.
