Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday directed the formation of a high-level committee to integrate comprehensive online facilities into the state’s healthcare system, aiming to streamline patient services and administration.
The committee, chaired by health and family welfare minister Col Dhani Ram Shandil (retd), has been tasked with submitting a formal report within 10 days.
The chief minister issued these directives while chairing a review meeting with senior officials from the health department, National Health Mission, and the directorate of medical education. He emphasised that transitioning to a digital framework would save patient resources and enhance the quality of medical care.
As part of the digital push, Sukhu ordered the immediate development of an online registration system for all health institutions to reduce waiting time. He directed that the Himcare Scheme be mapped down to the panchayat level.
In a move toward data consolidation, he instructed the integration of the ABHA card with the Him Parivar portal. “This will enhance transparency and accountability. It will make service monitoring, record maintenance, and grievance redressal more effective,” he said.
The chief minister said the state’s health infrastructure is currently being bolstered through support from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
