Patiala jail inmate dies of cold

Jail superintendent Gurcharan Singh Dhaliwal said the inmate had been sent to judicial custody on Sunday. Shortly after being lodged in jail, Yagnik complained of severe cold-related symptoms. He was rushed to the hospital immediately but he succumbed, said the jail superintendent.

A 30-year-old undertrial lodged at the Patiala central jail died during treatment for a cold-related illness at Government Rajindra Hospital in the early hours of Monday. The deceased has been identified as Kanhavar Yagnik, a resident of Gujarat. He was booked in a case of cheating, forgery and Sections of the IT Act, at the Mohali cyber crime police station. Jail superintendent Gurcharan Singh Dhaliwal said the inmate had been sent to judicial custody on Sunday. Shortly after being lodged in jail, Yagnik complained of severe cold-related symptoms. He was rushed to the hospital immediately but he succumbed, said the jail superintendent.
