Teachers of PAU, protesting against the delay in revised pay scales since February 12, have decided to call off the demonstration and resume office.

PAU Teachers’ Association president HS Kingra said, “We are thankful to the state government for announcing UGC pay scales to PAU teachers.”

The announcement comes two days ahead of bi-annual fairs, Kisan Mela and Pashu Palan Mela, at PAU and GADVASU respectively. Both the fairs are scheduled on March 24 and March 25.

President of GADVASU non-teaching staff union Didar Singh said, “Our tireless efforts have finally borne fruit, but we are waiting to get the notification document in hand. We will give full cooperation in the upcoming Pashu Palan Mela.”

“Around 500 employees of non-teaching staff have been regularised by GADVASU and will receive revised salaries. But when we ask the same, we are told that the government has banned recruitment for Class D employees,” said Jagwinderjit Singh, president of the PAU Non-Teaching Employees Union. He added that around 3,000 contractual non-teaching employees are only paid 5,000 to 6,000 per month.
