The race for the Tarn Taran assembly seat has now narrowed down to 15 candidates following the withdrawal of five nominations on the final day of the process. According to Gurmeet Singh, the returning officer-cum-SDM for Tarn Taran, the withdrawal of nominations took place on Thursday, leaving a crowded field for the by-election.
The candidates remaining in the contest include prominent party representatives such as Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa (SAD), Harjit Singh Sandhu (BJP), Harmeet Singh Sandhu (AAP), and Karanbir Singh Burj (INC). Additionally, Shyam Lal Gandhi (Sacho Sach Party) and Naib Singh (Nationalist Justice Party) are also contesting. A number of independent candidates are also in the fray, including Arun Kumar Khurmi Rajput, Harpal Singh Bhangu, Harbarinder Kaur Usma, advocate Komalpreet Singh, Jaswant Singh Sohal, Neetu Shataran Wala, Mandeep Singh, Mandeep Singh Khalsa, and Vijay Kumar.
The returning officer confirmed that all candidates have been allotted their respective election symbols. Polling for the by-election is scheduled to take place on November 11, while the counting of votes will occur on November 14.
