Punjab: Gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria’s accomplice arrested in Rupnagar
Nine pistols, 20 cartridges recovered from Vishal Verma, who caught as part of the drive against anti-social elements
Gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria’s accomplice Vishal Verma was arrested in Rupnagar district of Punjab along with nine pistols and 20 cartridges.
Rupnagar senior superintendent of police Vivek Sheel Soni said Verma was arrested by a team led by SP, investigation, Manwinderbir Singh as part of the ongoing drive against anti-social elements.
He said Verma, who was planning to strike in the state, supplied 13 pistols but managed to give the police the slip in Hoshiarpur.
Director general of police Gaurav Yadav in a tweet, said, “In a major breakthrough, @RupnagarPolice has arrested Vishal Verma, a close accomplice of gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria and recovered 9 pistols along with 20 live cartridges and a magazine. They were operating a weapon & drug smuggling racket.”
A case under relevant sections of the Arms Act has been registered against Verma at Sadar police station in Rupnagar. A Rupnagar court on Saturday sent the accused to three-day police remand, said police.
