Punjab: Justice Lisa Gill recommended as Andhra CJ

The collegium led by chief justice of India, Surya Kant, in its meeting on February 26, cleared her appointment, which, it said, will take effect from the date the vacancy arises

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of justice Lisa Gill of the Punjab and Haryana high court as the chief justice of the Andhra Pradesh high court.

The collegium led by chief justice of India, Surya Kant, in its meeting on February 26, cleared her appointment, which, it said, will take effect from the date the vacancy arises. However, as per the resolution, justice Gill will first join the Andhra Pradesh high court as a puisne judge and will later take over as the chief justice, when the incumbent demits office.

The daughter of justice (retd) HS Brar, justice Gill got enrolled as an advocate in 1990 and practised at the high court handling criminal, civil, service, revenue and constitutional matters. She was elevated as judge in 2014.
