Punjab restores regular govt office timings from July 1

The government had advanced office hours to 7.30 am to 1.30 pm with effect from May 25 as a temporary measure during the peak summer season. The arrangement will remain in force until June 30, after which normal working hours will resume.

The Punjab government on Friday announced that all its departments, boards, corporations, and other state-run institutions will revert to regular office timings of 9 am to 5 pm from July 1, bringing an end to the summer schedule introduced to help employees avoid peak afternoon heat.

An official spokesperson said the revised timings will apply to all state government offices in Punjab and Chandigarh.

The government had advanced office hours to 7.30 am to 1.30 pm with effect from May 25 as a temporary measure during the peak summer season. The arrangement will remain in force until June 30, after which normal working hours will resume.

The spokesperson said the change was made in view of prevailing weather conditions and that all government offices would return to the standard work schedule from the beginning of July.
