A team from the directorate of medical education and research (DMER), Haryana, visited Pt Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak on Friday and conducted a detailed inspection of various departments.

The team held a meeting with PGIMS director Dr SK Singhal and medical superintendent Dr Kundan Mittal. They reviewed the out patient department (OPD), trauma centre, super specialty block, and laboratories.

As per DMER instructions, all departments had been directed to submit data in both hard copy and soft copy as per the prescribed proforma by 10am, on May 29. The inspection team, along with the deputy medical superintendents (DMS) of various departments, assessed faculty strength, bed occupancy, status of equipment, and compliance with National Medical Commission (NMC) norms.

DMER officials stated that, on government orders, separate teams are inspecting all government medical colleges across Haryana. After collecting data from all institutions, a comprehensive report will be submitted to DMER headquarters.

This inspection is considered an important step towards improving the quality of medical education in Haryana. The team will submit its findings to the headquarters and offer suggestions for further improvement.
