The ongoing strike by Sewa Kendra employees in Ludhiana has intensified after several protesting workers reportedly received termination notices, deepening tensions as the agitation entered its 11th day.

The protesters alleged that instead of initiating dialogue over their long-pending demands, authorities have begun punitive action against employees participating in the strike. They claim that notices were issued directing them to resume duties, failing which their services would be terminated. Jaspal Singh, central in-charge of the striking employees, said nearly 20% of workers across the state have already been removed from service. In Ludhiana alone, around 20 employees have reportedly been dismissed during the course of the protest. He said workers have been raising issues related to job security, salary structure and regularisation for several years, but their concerns remain unaddressed.
