Woman dies in hit-and-run in Mohali

According to police, the accident occurred around 9.15 am when Raghav, 21, was riding a scooter (PB34B7885) with his mother, Manju, as pillion. As they approached the Landran lights, a motorcycle carrying two persons allegedly emerged from a side street and rammed into their scooter.

A woman was killed in a hit-and-run accident near the Landran traffic lights in Sector 114, Mohali, on Wednesday morning. The deceased was identified as Manju, a resident of Landran. Police have registered a case and are trying to identify and trace the motorcycle rider involved.

According to police, the accident occurred around 9.15 am when Raghav, 21, was riding a scooter (PB34B7885) with his mother, Manju, as pillion. As they approached the Landran lights, a motorcycle carrying two persons allegedly emerged from a side street and rammed into their scooter.

The impact threw Manju onto the road, causing severe head injuries. The motorcycle rider and pillion rider fled the spot without stopping.

Passersby rushed to help and shifted the injured woman to a private hospital in Sohana, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Based on Raghav’s statement, Sohana police have registered a case under Sections 281 (rash driving), 106(1) (causing death by negligence) and 324(4) (mischief causing damage) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
