Addressing the 172nd foundation day celebrations of the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Lal said the government was exploring ways to utilise the airspace above linear projects such as metro corridors. “We have asked DDA to find a way to utilise the airspace... if such space is developed, it will be cost-effective as the housing projects will be connected to the station and commuters will not reach a vehicle to reach the station,” he said.

While addressing an industry event last month, Lal had highlighted the paucity of space for infrastructure over linear projects.

The minister also announced that the Central Vista precinct will be renamed Kartavya Bhawan Kshetra, saying the new name would better reflect the identity of the redeveloped administrative district.
