A 32-year-old man and his 30-year-old wife were killed after the roof of their house collapsed at Ganwari Extension in Usmanpur in northeast Delhi on Sunday night, officials said on Monday.

A Delhi Fire Services (DFS) official said the fire control room was informed about the collapse near Hansraj Diary at 10.31pm on Sunday. He added that four fire tenders and firemen were dispatched to the spot from Shastri Park Fire Station.
The official said the couple, Tinku Singh and Urmila Singh, were trapped under the debris after the roof of their nearly 120 square feet ground-plus-first-floor house collapsed. The couple was rescued before rescuers arrived at the collapse scene.
DFS officials said Tinku Singh and Urmila Singh was rushed to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital, where doctors declared them dead. Police said an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the cause of the roof collapse.
