Neighbour, minor son assault man over pet issue in south Delhi, FIR registered

A 27-year-old man was injured by a neighbor and his son after a dispute over a dog. Police are investigating the incident, which was captured on video.

New Delhi:A 27-year-old man was injured after a neighbour and his minor son allegedly assaulted and wrongfully restrained him following an altercation. The incident occurred after the victim’s pet dog relieved itself outside the neighbour’s house on Sunday, police said on Wednesday.

The neighbour, reportedly an engineer in a Delhi’s power distribution company, also made objectionable and threatening remarks against the victim’s mother when she tried to intervene, police added.

A video clip of the incident surfaced on social media on Wednesday, following which a case was registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), Section 126 (wrongful restraint), Section 79 (word, gesture or act intended to insult modesty of a woman), and Section 351 (criminal intimidation) at Amar Colony police station. No arrests were made till late Wednesday evening.

In the clip, a woman police officer was heard confronting the accused and referring to the video. However, HT could not independently verify the clip’s authenticity.

Deputy commissioner of police (southeast) Hemant Tiwari said the matter came to light on Sunday after a private hospital informed the police about a man with minor injuries from Kailash Hills in East of Kailash.

“We are interrogating the neighbour. The CCTV footage of the area is also being examined,” the DCP added.
