Two men steal jewellery from temple in east Delhi’s Nirman Vihar

“We have taken statement of the priest. He has listed a few valuables. The accused scaled wall and entered the temple. They didn’t break any locks” said a police officer.

Two unidentified men broke into a temple in east Delhi’s Nirman Vihar early on Monday and stole silver jewellery and accessories weighing above 2kg, police said.

No arrests have been made yet. Police said they were trying to identify the men.

In a purported CCTV footage of the incident, two masked men are seen entering the temple. One of them is seen covering the CCTV camera while the second person first touches the Shivling, and then steals a silver “parta” (sheet). Police said the suspects managed to decamp with all the valuables within five minutes.
