Police have booked a chef for allegedly stabbing his colleague inside the kitchen of a restaurant at Vatika Business Park in Gurugram Sector 49 around 8pm on March 10, after the latter made a comment on his chopping skills, police said on Tuesday.

The police said that the injured — Saurav Ranga, 22, a native of Badauli village in Sonipat — started working as a chef at the restaurant two months ago. The suspect — Vishnu, 21, who is a native of Assam — also worked as a chef there. According to the police, Vishnu was making dices of cottage cheese when Saurav said that “the pieces were too big”. This allegedly irked Vishnu, and he stabbed Ranga in the abdomen with his chopping knife and escaped.
The police said that Ranga was admitted to a private hospital in Badshahpur, but was later moved to PGI Rohtak, where he is undergoing treatment.
Based on Ranga’s complaint, a case was registered against Vishnu under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) at the Sector 50 police station on Monday night.
Subhash Boken, public relation officer (PRO) of Gurugram Police said, “The suspect is still on the run, and we are trying to nab him at the earliest.”
