JAIPUR: Independent legislator Sanyam Lodha, one of the six to be appointed Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot’s adviser in November last year, was evicted from the state assembly on Tuesday after he disrupted proceedings demanding the release of a man in jail for four years on a murder charge.

Lodha insisted that the man, arrested four years ago in Sirohi district’s Berlut area, was innocent, and sought action against the police officers who played a role in framing him for the crime.
Parliamentary affairs minister Shanti Dhariwal said the government will have to investigate the allegation and promised to get one concluded within seven days. Dhariwal said action will be taken against the policemen allegedly involved only after this investigation is complete.
When Sanyam Lodha repeatedly interrupted the minister, entered the Well of the House and continued to raise slogans against the police, speaker CP Joshi’s told marshalls to evict him from the House. “Marshals. Throw him out. I will not allow it,” Joshi ordered.
“The House cannot run according to you. This cannot be allowed at all. I urge, the rest of the MLAs also not to behave in such a way that I have to make some unpleasant decisions,” Joshi said.
Lodha said the family of the man imprisoned for four years had suffered immensely for the past four years due to the police action. The government, he told the assembly, should free him, take action against the policemen involved and compensate him.
