4-year-old boy falls into borewell in UP's Hapur, rescued. Video

A four-year-old boy was on Tuesday rescued after he fell in a borewell in Uttar Pradesh's Hapur. The boy was reportedly playing near the borewell when he fell inside. A video shared by news agency ANI showed the boy lying on a stretcher - with an oxygen mask - being taken away by a team of rescuers. Some onlookers could be seen recording the visuals of the incident on their mobile phones.

The rescue operation - which went for nearly four hours - was said to be led by the teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). The team reached the spot as soon as they received information, and started rescue operations to save the boy. "Oxygen and food were sent inside the borewell", District Magistrate Medha Rupam was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had offered condolences and announced a compensation of 4 lakh at that time. "It is very sad that little Tanmay (Sahu), who fell in a borewell in Betul's Mandvi village, could not be saved even after tireless efforts by the administration. I pray to God to give peace to the departed soul and strength to the family members to bear this loss, Om Shanti," he had tweeted.
