Rakesh Kumar Verma has been appointed city magistrate of Bareilly, filling the vacancy created after Alankar Agnihotri, a 2019 PCS officer, recently resigned in protest against new UGC regulations. His appointment was among a broader reshuffle that saw five IAS officers transferred, one given additional charge, and five PCS officers shifted on Saturday.

In the IAS transfers, Nagendra Pratap, additional executive officer at Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), has been posted as divisional commissioner, Agra. Manish Meena, chief development officer (CDO) of Mathura, will replace him.
Prashant Nagar, CDO of Mau, becomes municipal commissioner, Firozabad, and vice-chairman of Firozabad development authority. Vivek Kumar Srivastav, deputy secretary at UP Public Service Commission, takes over as CDO, Mau.
Pooja Gupta, joint magistrate of Ghaziabad, has been appointed CDO, Mathura.
Ranvir Prasad, principal secretary of food and civil supply and consumer affairs, has been given additional charge as commissioner of food and civil supply. The post became vacant after the government accepted 2004 IAS officer Anamika Singh’s request under the volunteer retirement scheme (VRS). Saturday was her last working day.
