Bomb threat halts Raptisagar Express at Lko rly station, searches find nothing suspicious

A bomb threat reported aboard the Thiruvananthapuram-Gorakhpur Raptisagar Express at Aishbagh railway station on Tuesday morning led to a security response, but extensive checks later found no explosive material or suspicious object on the train, officials said.
Following the alert, local police, the Government Railway Police (GRP) and other security agencies rushed to the station and launched a thorough search operation. Security personnel inspected every coach of the train and screened passengers as part of the mandatory safety protocol.
Officials said no explosive substance or suspicious item was found during the search, following which the train was declared safe and allowed to continue its journey.
According to the GRP, the information about the alleged bomb was traced to Saini Jackie, 26, a resident of Telangana, who was travelling on the train.
During interrogation, Jackie told investigators that he was travelling from Ramagundam railway station in Telangana to Gorakhpur in coach S-2 of the Raptisagar Express. He allegedly stated that when the train slowed down near Unnao, some passengers got off claiming there was a bomb on board. He then called the Railway Protection Force (RPF) control room and reported the alleged presence of a bomb on the train.
The bomb alert caused panic among passengers and briefly disrupted railway operations as security agencies carried out detailed checks.
Following the search, authorities declared the train safe and no untoward incident was reported. The Raptisagar Express departed Aishbagh station at 11.30 am, running one hour and 13 minutes behind schedule due to the security checks.
“The details of the interrogation did not reveal any suspicious role of the informant,” the GRP said in a press note.
