AGRA Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday emphasised on the overall development of the Braj region, measures to check river pollution and welfare of widows in Vrindavan by associating them with government schemes, on his first visit to Mathura after the BJP’s victory in the UP assembly polls this year.
Adityanath went to Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi and offered prayers at Bhagwat Bhawan and at the ‘Garbh Grah’ in the basement, which was originally a prison cell where Devki gave birth to Lord Krishna during captivity enforced by Mathura ruler Kansa, the maternal uncle of Krishna.
Presiding over the fifth board meeting of Uttar Pradesh Braj Vikas Parishad, the CM held discussions on measures for the development of Mathura and Vrindavan. He also urged officials to connect Vrindavan widows with government schemes to ensure their self-dependence.
Adityanath took up issue of Yamuna pollution, tree plantation and stressed on timely completion of schemes taken up by the parishad, for which he suggested timely NoCs by departments concerned for schemes of Braj region’s development.
“Maintain quality and transparency in implementation of development plans and stick to time frame because delays often raise project costs. Stress should be on making gram panchayat, nagar panchayat, nagar palika and nagar nigam self-reliant,” said the CM.

{{/usCountry}}During the meeting, second-time MP from Mathura, Hema Malini, suggested setting up a theme park based on Lord Krishna and development of food zones all over the Braj region. The CM gave a patient hearing to suggestions by party MLAs and asked officials to have coordination with elected representatives in implementing projects.
The chief minister also visited the spot associated with Syed Ibrahim Raas Khan (Raskhan) who wrote devotional songs for Lord Krishna in Vrindavan spoke about the promotion of ‘Raskhan Samadhi’. He suggested that a cultural event be held at this newly developed site once a week.
Adityanath stayed overnight in Mathura after attending the marriage function of minister Laxmi Narain Chaudhary’s son on Monday evening and left for Lucknow on Tuesday afternoon.
Before attending the fifth board meeting of UP Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad, the CM also visited Shri Bankey Behari Temple in Vrindavan.
