Drug smuggler held with brown sugar worth crores in UP’s Bahraich

The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police on Friday morning arrested a notorious drug smuggler Sonu Ahmad with 3.44 kg of brown sugar worth crores of rupees in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district, said senior police officials in a press note shared with media.

The STF also seized a car, two mobile phones, an electronic weighing scale and  ₹750 in cash from the accused. (For Representation)

According to the STF press note, the accused was supplying the drug to various locations in Bahraich and Nepal border areas. He has been operating for over a year and has supplied over 100 kg of brown sugar during this period. The STF team also seized a car, two mobile phones, an electronic weighing scale and 750 in cash from the accused.

A senior police official said the accused revealed that he purchased the brown sugar from a woman named Badama in Lucknow’s Khadra area and supplied it to various locations in Bahraich and Nepal border areas. He said a case had been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act at the Kotwali Dehat police station in Bahraich.
