Four Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections were on Saturday added to the violation of the model code of conduct (MCC) case that was registered against Abbas Ansari for allegedly making a controversial statement during campaigning in Mau over eight days ago, a police officer said.

Abbas Ansari is son of Mafiosi-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, who is currently in jail. Abbas was elected from Mau Sadar constituency as an SP-SBSP alliance candidate in the just-concluded UP assembly polls.
The additions to the case against Ansari are section 186 (obstructing official work), section 189 (threatening public servant), section 153A (statement or attempt to cause disturbance against any particular class) and section 120B (criminal conspiracy), the police officer said.
