U.P.: Students display creativity at painting event celebrating India’s G20 presidency

Lucknow Municipal Corporation organised the event on ‘Rang De Basant, G20 Ke Sang’ theme at Janeshwar Mishra Park

Thousands of students from various schools displayed their talent in a G20 painting competition held at Janeshwar Mishra Park here on Sunday to celebrate India’s G20 presidency. The event organised by the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) was based on ‘Rang De Basant, G20 Ke Sang’ theme.

For Jiya Singh and Kamya Mishra, both students of Avadh Collegiate School, Lucknow, it was great to be a part of the event. In their paintings, students depicted their creative thoughts about India’s growing economy and how the country emerged as one of the strongest economies of the world.

“In our paintings, we depicted how country’s face is changing from 2G to 5G. Internet revolution helped our schools continue with regular online classes during the pandemic when everything was closed,” said two students Jiya Singh and Khushi.

More than 4200 participants tried to impress upon the jury with their paintings at the competition organised in two levels. ‘Rang de Basant G20 Ke Sang’ was meant for level 1 and ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ for level 2.

There were 1800 students from class 6-8, another 1450 students from class 9-12 and some 430 students of undergraduate level besides 70 teachers and 250 fine arts professionals. In addition, 220 were from open category. Uttar Pradesh chief secretary Durga Shanker Mishra felicitated the winners of the competition.

Earlier on February 3, students of schools, colleges and universities participated at a painting competition at their institution level where 2.75 lakh students of class 1 to 8 from 2100 schools, 1.35 lakh students from 900 schools of standard 9-12 took part. Besides, college and university students also participated in the event.

Adarsh Kharwar of class 11 depicted economic growth while Aaradhya Singh of class 7 painted colourful and vibrant India with ‘Vande Bharat’ train on one side and metro on the other side.
