Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP’s) ‘Punjab dialogue’, started a week ago in Mohali, held its second episode here on Saturday. The programme received lukewarm response and speeches by journalist Kanwar Sandhu and Bhagwant Mann failed to connect to the youth as people were seen moving out of the auditorium during the programme.
Started on the lines of ‘Delhi Dialogue’, the AAP initiated this programme to interact with the youth to take their suggestions before designing the manifesto of the party. The dialogue’s in-charge Kanwar Sandhu said that party chief and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal would unveil the manifesto in June’s first week.
People mostly asked questions about the education standard in the state. Most of them demanded to bring change in policies regarding education and to raise the standard of education.
Sandhu said that if the AAP wins in Punjab, then they would make sure that the government schools’ standard of education was up to the mark so that people start preferring these schools for their children. And, a time will come when government schools’ seats will be full and parents will still put their kids name in the waiting list, said Sandhu.
AAP MP Bhagwant Mann, on the sidelines of the event, said that Kejriwal had written a letter to state chief minister Parkash Singh Badal not to forcefully collect payment of loans from farmers which could drive them towards committing suicide. He said if AAP wins in Punjab, then it would make better policies, especially for the farmers who were under debt.

Sandhu said that he was listening to the problems of the youth and the roots of all the problems were very deep. He said their main focus would be education, health, farming, drug menace, women safety and unemployment while framing the manifesto. He said the ruling party. in its tenure of 10 years. had increased the feein medical colleges 1,700 times and made it unaffordable for middle and lower classes of society. The AAP leader said instead of making high promises that cannot be kept; they would come up with solutions of existing problems which other governments have failed to provide.
