48-year-old man killed, wife injured in Antop Hill road accident

According to the police, the deceased was identified as Rajesh Shinde, 48, a resident of a chawl near the G T B railway station on the Harbour Line.

MUMBAI: A 48-year-old man died and his wife was injured after a truck hit their scooter at Kokri Agar in the Antop Hill area on Friday.

According to the police, the deceased was identified as Rajesh Shinde, 48, a resident of a chawl near the G T B railway station on the Harbour Line.

Police said Shinde worked for a private company that announced Friday as a holiday. “So he took his scooter to drop his wife, Shraddha, 46, at Wadala, where she works as a house-help,” said a police officer.

When they reached Kokri Agar, a truck came very close to their two-wheeler, causing Rajesh to lose control of the vehicle. The police said that as the scooter fell, Rajesh came under the truck’s rear wheel, while Shraddha fractured both her hands. Antop Hill police have booked the truck’s driver, Sadashiv Erande, 55.
