Mumbai: The police have arrested a jeweller’s 42-year-old wife and teenage son for murdering him on Wednesday at the jeweller’s house-cum-jewellery shop in Bhayander (West).

According to the Navghar police, the deceased, Sushanto Pal, 51, lived alone in the shop. Neighbours told the police that one Tuesday night, Pal’s wife, Amruta Pal and 19-year-old son were fighting with him in his house. On Wednesday morning, Pal was found dead with severe injuries.
When the police found that Pal’s wife and son would often demand money from him and argue with him, they began suspecting the mother-son duo in the matter. After a mere 2 hours of looking for the duo, the police found them and arrested them on Wednesday night. When questioned, the two of them confessed to having committed the crime.
While Amrutha has been arrested, the police said that Pal’s minor son has been sent to the Child Welfare Committee. “We are now trying to ascertain the exact motive and sequence of events leading to the murder,” said a police officer from Navghar police station.
