MUMBAI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Hemant Savra had a narrow escape after a dumper truck rammed into his car, which was being driven on the wrong side amid heavy traffic on Ghodbunder Road in Thane on Friday morning, police said. No case has been registered in the matter.

The impact injured his driver and damaged the car, though Savra, Palghar’s Lok Sabha representative, was unharmed as airbags deployed. The driver’s injuries are not serious, police said.
According to police, the accident occurred shortly after the vehicle crossed Versova Bridge on Ghodbunder Road while Savra was travelling from Thane to Palghar. Heavy congestion on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway reportedly led the driver to drive against the flow of traffic, causing the collision.
The dumper driver allegedly fled the scene, but the vehicle owner later appeared before the police. “We have not registered any case,” said Sanjay Hazare, a senior police inspector.
