MUMBAI: A 30-year-old man was found dead on the Western Express Highway (WEH) on Sunday evening, with police suspecting he may have been the victim of a hit-and-run. While the police have registered an accidental death report (ADR), the deceased’s family has alleged foul play.

According to the police, they received a call around 4.30pm about a man in his thirties lying injured on the side of the northbound carriageway of the WEH. During a search, officers recovered an identity card identifying him as Suraj Salunkhe.
The victim was resident of Tanaji nagar in Malad east and worked at a cable repair shop. He was found walking along the highway in a CCTV recording.
Salunkhe was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Police said he had an injury to his left foot, indicating that he may have been struck by a vehicle. His family has also alleged some foul play in his death.
The exact cause of his death will be certain after receiving the post-mortem examination reports.
