Mumbai: Fire breaks out at four-storey building in Girgaon Chowpatty

At least 16 fire-fighting vehicles have been rushed to the spot.

A fire broke out in a three-storey building near Mumbai's Girgaon Chowpatty on Saturday. Two charred bodies recovered, one male, one female from the third floor of the building.

The fire has been reported on the second and third floor of the Gomti Bhavan Building in Girgaon Chowpatty on Ranganekar Road. (Bhushan Koyande/ HT)

The fire was reported at around 10 pm on the second and third floor of the Gomati Bhavan Building on Ranganekar Road in the area. Fire is confined to third floor of ground plus upper three floor plus attic floored Gomati Sadan building.

At least 16 fire-fighting vehicles have been rushed to the spot. Senior fire department officials and ambulances are also present.

"Firefighting is underway with a total of five lines, two first-aid lines, two small lines and one big line after cutting off the electricity supply. The cause of the fire cannot be known immediately," the official stated in a message read.
