MUMBAI: A woman commuter was injured after a stone was allegedly thrown at a moving Central Railway local between Parel and Dadar stations on Friday evening, raising fresh concerns about passenger safety.

The incident took place around 7.15pm as a Badlapur-bound train slowed down before entering Dadar station. According to railway officials, the stone entered the ladies’ compartment and hit the woman on her head, leaving her with injuries to her face and near her eyes.
She was provided immediate medical assistance at Dadar station, officials added.
Officials suspect that an unidentified person standing along the tracks hurled the stone from the left side, possibly targeting the compartment. Police said an investigation has been initiated to trace the accused.
“The incident has once again highlighted the vulnerability of train passengers and the urgent need for enhanced security measures along railway tracks,” said Nandkumar Deshmukh, president, Federation of Suburban Rail Passengers Association.
