The incident took place at Ace Group’s Parkway project on Monday afternoon. The 28-year-old engineer, identified as Ritik Rathore, was killed after he fell from the 25th floor of the under-construction building while trying to dismantle a temporary lift around 4.15pm Monday, said police.

“The engineer of the private firm that had installed the temporary lift was called by the builder firm on Monday to dismantle the lift as a permanent full-service lift had been installed at the building. During the process, the supporting system could not bear the load of the lift, and it crashed to the ground from the 25th floor with Rathore in it,” Dinesh Kumar Singh, additional deputy commissioner of police, said.

He added that the deceased was a resident of Firozabad. “His family was informed about the incident who came from Firozabad and submitted a complaint late Monday evening,” he said.

When contacted, Spartan Engineering refused comment on the matter.

Spokesperson of Ace Group said, “The company had hired Spartan Engineering, a third-party vendor, for lift services at the construction site. The deceased was an employee of the Spartan Engineering. He had come to the site to dismantle the lift when the accident took place. We always adhere to high safety standards. We are fully cooperating with the police.”

Police said Rathore’s body was handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination. “The family has taken the body back to Firozabad for cremation,” said a police officer.
