Over 300 complaints on day-1 of LGP helpline launch in Gurugram

The Gurugram administration’s newly launched LPG helpline received over 300 complaints on its first day, with people reporting concerns over gas availability, delayed deliveries, and booking issues across the city.

On Thursday, 51 complaints were received at the control room, all of which were addressed promptly, officials said.

The helpline, set up at the Mini Secretariat to tackle complaints related to LPG shortages and black marketing, began operations on Wednesday. The initiative is part of a broader effort to streamline supply and ensure transparency in distribution.

District food and supplies controller (DFSC) Ashok Rawat said the majority of complaints were related to LPG refills.

For public convenience, the control room helpline number — 0124-2868930 — has been displayed across official social media platforms and at 58 gas agencies in the district.

Among Wednesday’s complains, around 130 complaints were from Gurugram, while more than 200 calls originated from Delhi, Noida, and Rajasthan, indicating the issue extends beyond city limits. Many callers reported being unable to book cylinders online or facing long delays after successful booking.

Officials aware of the matter said that a significant number of complaints pointed to non-availability of cylinders despite confirmed bookings, with some residents claiming they had been waiting for several days without delivery. Others alleged that calls to gas agencies often went unanswered.

The administration has urged residents to report grievances on the dedicated helpline, assuring each complaint will be addressed on priority. Officials said a 24x7 control room has been set up to monitor complaints and coordinate with gas agencies.

“Consumers should not panic. There is adequate stock, and we are actively monitoring the situation. Teams are working to ensure timely delivery and curb any malpractice,” deputy commissioner Ajay Kumar said.

Officials said inspection teams have been deployed across the district to check for illegal hoarding and diversion of domestic cylinders for commercial use. Strict action will be taken against violators.

The development comes amid increased demand and supply disruptions in recent weeks in light of the geopolitical situation in West Asia hitting LPG supply globally. Authorities have urged citizens to rely only on official channels for booking and reporting issues.
