Woman, 64, dies by suicide at Gzb high-rise: Cops

Ghaziabad: A 64-year-old woman was found hanging from a staircase grill outside her 12th-floor flat at a high-rise in Ghaziabad on Monday morning, police said.

Suryabali Maurya, ACP of Kavi Nagar, told HT: “The police teams reached the spot Monday morning and found that a dupatta was tied to the woman’s neck and her body was hanging from the grill. Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide.” (Representational image)

According to officials, the woman’s daughter-in-law had also died by suicide about a year and a half ago. The 64-year-old lived with her son at the high-rise, within the limits of Kavi Nagar police station, they added.

“Her daughter-in-law had also died by suicide about one-and-half years ago, and the 64-year-old had been depressed since then. No note was recovered, and the police will get an autopsy conducted,” the ACP added.
