New Delhi: A 52-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping his 16-year-old tenant in north Delhi’s Burari on Friday afternoon, police said on Sunday.
According to police, the girl is a student of Class 11 and lives with her parents and younger brother in Burari. The accused lives in the same locality and runs a shop.
Police said that on Friday, the girl returned from school in the afternoon and was alone at home when the house owner came on the pretext of some repair work. “When he entered, he forced himself on the girl and threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident. He then left the house,” a senior police officer said.
In the evening, when the girl’s mother returned home, the girl confided in her and the mother called the police.
“The girl was then taken for medical examination and she was counselled. A case was registered under sections of rape and the Pocso Act and the accused was arrested the same day,” the officer said.
