Madhepura: Police have lodged a case against a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA from Madhepura in Bihar for allegedly slapping a labourer and using abusive language, officers said.

Based on a complaint lodged by the labourer, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed against Madhepura MLA Chandra Shekhar and his supporters.
The labourer, in his complaint seen by HT, said that the MLA, along with his supporters, was visiting Purnia Gola on November 23 to review the ongoing construction work of a drain being built by the Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (BUIDCO) in Madhepura.
He alleged that Shekhar and his supporters used abusive language and slapped him repeatedly in the presence of other labourers at the construction site.
The four-time RJD MLA since 2010 did not respond to HT’s phone calls.
A video of the incident was circulating on social media.
Station House Officer (SHO) Bimlendu Kumar said, “A labourer, Sonu Nigam, has lodged an FIR under sections 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 308(3) (offence of extortion) and 352(3)(5) (intentional insult) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).”
