Manipur: BJP rejects dissent in party, says meeting held for PM’s ‘Mann ki Baat’
Expressing their resentment against CM Biren, in the past two weeks, four BJP legislators– Kh Raghumani Singh (Uripok), Paonam Brojen (Wangjing-Tentha), Karam Shyam (Langthabal) and Dr Th Radheshyam (Heirok) have resigned from their respective official posts
Following the resignation of four party legislators in Manipur, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday convened a high-level meeting in Imphal. However, according to party officials, the meeting was held in the context of the upcoming 100th episode of prime minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on April 30.
Citing personal reasons, in the past two weeks, four BJP legislators– Kh Raghumani Singh(Uripok), Paonam Brojen (Wangjing-Tentha), Karam Shyam (Langthabal) and Dr Th Radheshyam (Heirok) have resigned from their respective official posts.
The meeting which was held at Thambal Sanglen, the state BJP headquarters in Imphal, was attended by chief minister Biren Singh, BJP national spokesperson & Northeast-in-charge Sambit Patra, and BJP Manipur Pradesh chief A Sharda Devi.

Responding to reporters after the meeting, the CM said the meeting was held to discuss and review preparations for celebrations to mark the 100th episode of PM Modi’s monthly radio broadcast “Mann ki Baat” this Sunday.
“We have a meeting along with all the legislators and had a threadbare discussion for the 100th (episode) of ‘Maan ki Baat’ of the prime minister in all the 60 constituencies,” said Biren.
He added, “I also want to appeal to the people of the state to listen to PM’s Mann ki Baat on this 100th episode.”
When asked about any dissension as four legislators resigned from official posts, CM Biren Singh maintained that there is no crisis in the state BJP.
“Nothing is there. They were there for the treatment (in Delhi). But they came back. There is no crisis. We are all together now,” he said.
Sharing a similar comment, BJP Manipur Pradesh chief A Sharda Devi said, “We’re preparing for the 100th episode of Maan ki Baat.”
On the question of why Patra attended the meeting, Devi said, “The visit (to the state) to attend the party’s organisational meeting is his regular duty being the (party) in-charge of the state.”
On April 24, Kh Raghumani resigned as the chairman of Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency, while Paonam Brojen as the chairman of Manipur Development Society on April 20, citing personal reasons.
Earlier this month, ex-ministers Dr Th Radheshyam and Karam Shyam resigned from the post of advisor to the chief minister and as the chairman of Tourism Corporation of Manipur Limited on April 13 and 17, respectively, citing no responsibility given as reasons for resignation.
