A policeman was killed and circle officer of Mant area was critically injured when a police jeep got hit by a speeding truck within limits of Sureer police station of Mathura district on Monday night. The mishap occurred at 90 milestone of Yamuna Expressway connecting Agra with NOIDA.

“The tragic incident occurred at around 11.45 pm on Monday. The driver of police jeep, Vipin Kumar (40) was killed on the spot while circle officer (Mant circle) of Mathura district Neelesh Mishra was seriously injured,” informed superintendent of police (rural) Mathura Sirish Chand on Tuesday morning.
“The driver’s body has been sent for post mortem examination while the police officer has received multiple fractures and is undergoing treatment. The truck which hit the jeep has been seized while the driver is still at large,” said SP rural.
Initial report suggests that the victims were on night patrolling on Yamuna Expressway and were taking a turn when the speeding truck hit the police vehicle and hurled it to quite a distance.
Police force from Naujheel, Mant and Sureer police station rushed to the spot and rescue operation was launched.
