DG NCC lauds Lucknow directorate for social service, meets CM

The DG appreciated the NCC directorate of U.P. in Lucknow for taking up social service and community development activities.

LUCKNOW The director general of NCC (National Cadet Corps), Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh, was given the Guard of Honour salute by the cadets during his visit to the Lucknow NCC directorate and the group headquarters on March 20 and 21 respectively. He also took stock of the progress in the corps and inspected the campus in Uttar Pradesh.

During this, he was updated on the work done by the corps here, and told about the expansion of NCC in Lucknow and surrounding districts and the results achieved by NCC cadets in various national and state competitions and camps. The DG appreciated the NCC directorate of U.P. in Lucknow for taking up social service and community development activities -- including cleaning of water bodies under the Puneet Sagar Abhiyan. He also commended the NCC for honouring the next of kin of martyrs under the ‘Shaheedon Shat Shat Naman’ programme.

The DG also met chief minister Adityanath, and the chief secretary of state on the first day of his trip. On the second day, he met the minister of state for secondary education, vice-chancellor of Lucknow University Alok Rai, to discuss the inclusion of NCC elective and minor subjects in the graduation curriculum. During his visit to the Lucknow directorate and group headquarters, he also felicitated cadets, associate NCC officers and PIs (permanent instructors) for their admirable performances.

Among those felicitated were -- GCI Poonam Kumari of 31 UP (G) Bn NCC Group (Noida), Lt Beenam Saxena of 8 UP (G) Bn NCC (Bareilly), Chief Officer Santosh Kumar Dwivedi of 60 UP Bn NCC (Fatehpur), SUO Mahavir Upadhyay of 44 UP Bn NCC (Gorakhpur) and Sgt Reegul Sharma of 1 UP (G) Bn NCC (Agra).
