Eight cops booked for securing jobs with fake freedom fighter quota certificates

: Eight police personnel posted in Pratapgarh have been booked for allegedly obtaining jobs in the 2023 Civil Police direct recruitment by using forged certificates claiming they were dependents of freedom fighters.

The case surfaced after a complaint against one of the accused, Shubham Dubey of Mirzapur, was forwarded to Pratapgarh police for investigation. An inquiry ordered by the superintendent of police found that seven other constables had also allegedly used fake certificates during recruitment.

Based on the findings, an FIR was lodged under charges of fraud and forgery. All eight accused are residents of Mirzapur district. Police said a detailed investigation is underway.
