Following his visit to Giaspura with MC zonal commissioner Poonampreet Kaur, MLA (Ludhiana South) Rajinder Pal Kaur Chhina on Tuesday directed the civic body staff to remove garbage dumped along the flats there.

The Giaspura flats have been alloted to slum dwellers by the municipal corporation (MC).
Residents of flats have been raising hue and cry over the issue for a long time stating that they were forced to live under the constant threat of an epidemic. Water stagnation and clogged sewer lines have also been taking a toll on the public, they said.
Stating that foul smell has been troubling residents in the area, Chhina directed the officials to remove the garbage from the site and shift the same at the main dump site of the MC on Tajpur road. Further, directions were also issued to conduct a cleanliness drive in the area.
Meanwhile, the legislator also inspected a 30-bed government hospital in Dhandari area and raised concern over the poor infrastructure. He said steps would be taken to improve the facility in the coming time.
