AGRA: The court of the district judge in Mathura on Monday heard the transfer application moved by Hindu petitioners seeking the creation of a special court to hear all cases related to the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi dispute. After hearing the arguments of the two sides, the court reserved its order while fixing the next date of hearing of the case on December 8.
“The hearing of the transfer application was being deferred on the past dates because of the absence of the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board from court proceedings. However, representatives of the body appeared in the court on Monday and filed their objections to the petition,” said Mahendra Pratap Singh, the counsel and one of the Hindu petitioners who moved the transfer application in the local court.
The lawyer added, “We have filed this transfer application to have all cases related to Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi issue transferred to a special court, much like the Ram Janmabhoomi matter in Ayodhya, to ensure fast-track hearing.” The other respondent in the case -- the management committee of the Shahi Eidgah Mosque -- has already filed its objection to the transfer application by the Hindu petitioners.
Earlier, on July 15, Hindu petitioners had moved a transfer application in the court of the Mathura district judge. The petition was filed as more than a dozen cases have been filed over the issue in Mathura courts since September 2020.
