A new airport police station will soon come up in Prayagraj. It will be the 42nd station in Prayagraj and will have 35 policemen deployed here.
A missive in this regard has been sent by principal secretary (home) Sanjay Prasad dated December 5 to Uttar Pradesh DGP. A copy of the order was also marked to the newly set up Prayagraj police commissionerate, informed a senior police officer of Prayagraj.
The airport police station will include many nearby villages which were earlier under the jurisdiction of Dhumanganj, Puramufti police stations and some in the neighbouring Kaushambi district, he added.
The long awaited approval for the new police station has been given by chief minister Yogi Adityanath soon after the establishment of the police commissionerate system in Prayagraj. Officials have started identifying land for the construction of the new police station. However, the airport police station will be established temporarily in a building soon in a bid to start its functioning.
The demand for the airport police station was raised during Kumbh-2019 and the police officials had sent a proposal in this regard to the government. But the proposal could not be finalised at that time. Instead, the Puramufti police station of Kaushambi was included in the Prayagraj district. Despite this, the police officials were still experiencing problems in the absence of the airport police station following which a police outpost was finally established near the airport.
Complaints regarding any dispute related to airport premises and nearby were heard at Pipri police station of Kaushambi and cases were also lodged there. Airport was in Prayagraj but all complaints were reported in Kaushambi.

{{/usCountry}}After receiving the nod from the CM, the problems faced by police and even locals will be sorted out permanently.
The Prayagraj police commissioner will now decide that who will be in-charge of the new police station.
The 35 policemen posted at the airport police station will include inspector, 2 sub inspectors, head constable, computer operator, constable, driver and three class four employees, says the missive, a copy of which is with the HT.
Meanwhile, a new ‘anti-corruption police station’ is being established at police lines which will be inaugurated online by the CM. The in-charge of the police station will be a CO rank official. An old building in the police lines is being renovated for the new police station.
It may be noted that the police station of vigilance is functional at the police headquarters and FIRs are also being lodged there.
