As part of the renovation, two-decade-old plaster has been removed and a fresh plaster of cement has been applied. This was followed by applying sparkling white paint on the outer parts, giving a majestic look to the building originally built for British officials in 1820.

Before plaster, multiple cracks were spotted in various parts of the building. Also, iron beams have been used to give support to its outer perch. The cost of renovation of the church, which comes under Church of North India, has not been disclosed.

Amar Joy Singh, secretary of the Church, said, “Till 10 years ago, the condition of the church was not good. Wild bushes had grown in its field. Also, there used to be darkness due to absence of proper lightening. Further, there used to be no maintenance.”
