270 polling booths for Kasba, 510 for Chinchwad

Pune: The deputy district election office has announced 270 polling stations for the Kasba Peth constituency and 510 polling stations for the Chinchwad seat for the upcoming bypolls.

The byelections, scheduled to be held on February 26, were necessitated due to the recent deaths of sitting Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs - Mukta Tilak from Kasba Peth and Laxman Jagtap from Chinchwad.

The saffron party has named Hemant Rasane for the Kasba Peth constituency and Ashwini Jagtap for the Chinchwad seat.

The Kasba Peth assembly constituency has a total of 2,75,428 voters of which 1,36,873 are men, 1,38,550 are women and 5 are transgenders.

The number of voters has decreased by 15,255 since the 2019 assembly elections.

The Chinchwad assembly constituency has 5,66,415 voters of which 3,01,648 are men, 2,64,732 are women and 35 are transgenders. In comparison to the 2019 assembly elections, the number of voters has increased by 48,106.

The deputy district election office released the final voter list for all assembly constituencies in the district on January 5, 2023.

“The polling stations have been decided based on the final voter list. The special brief revision program of electoral rolls was conducted from November 9, 2022. According to this, on January 5, 2023, the voter list of all the assembly constituencies in the district was released,” said Aarti Bhosale, deputy district election officer.
