PUNE A 32-year-old man was arrested for alleged sexual assault of a four-year-old girl in the Khed area of Pimpri-Chinchwad police jurisdiction.
As the child is of a scheduled caste, the Prevention of Atrocity Act has also been invoked against the man.
A complaint in the matter was lodged by the child’s mother.
The arrested man is also a resident of Khed, according to the police.
The man allegedly asked the girl to his room and assaulted her on Friday as well as Saturday, said police.
A case under Section 376 of Indian Penal Code along with Sections 4 and 8 of Protection of children from sexual offence act, 2012, and Sections 3(1)(w)(i)(ii) and 3(2)(v) of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Act, 2015 has been registered at Chakan police station.
Assistant commissioner of police Prerna Katte is investigating the case.
