The Indian Army’s Southern Command concluded a major field exercise at Babina in Uttar Pradesh, showcasing its push towards technology-driven, multi-domain warfare.

Exercise Amogh Jwala, conducted from March 6 to 18, focused on validating mechanised warfare capabilities in an integrated operational environment. Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, reviewed the final phase and commended troops for their operational readiness and execution, according to a defence release.

The exercise brought together land, air and technology-driven components, highlighting the Army’s emphasis on jointness and integration of cyber, space, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), and electronic warfare (EW) capabilities.

Key drills included coordinated operations involving mechanised forces, attack helicopters, fighter aircraft and unmanned aerial systems, along with counter-drone technologies and network-enabled battlefield platforms under a unified command structure.Night-fighting capabilities, air defence systems and electronic warfare elements were deployed alongside ISR assets, underscoring the shift towards a more agile, networked and future-ready force.
