Bus number 868 at Kothrud Depot was up in flames on February 22 this year. The incident had reduced the entire structure to ashes, including the doors, wheels, and engine. Chandrasekhar Kadam, the then-PMPML Kothrud depot manager, took it as a challenge and repaired the bus’s wiring and engine.

TATA Motors, the maker of the vehicle, took the lead to rewire it thoroughly due to its multiplex wiring quality.

A team of officials including Kadam, Rajendra Paigude, Sunil Wadkar and many others joined in this activity, working tirelessly to refurbish the vehicle, instead of scrapping it.
